Commence Plus: Creating the Home Page

Commence Plus includes a home page template with the theme. To use the home page template, create a new page. The page can be named anything but for demonstration purposes we’ll name it “Home”. 

Assign the Home template to the page:

From the Reading Settings of your WordPress site, assign the Home page as the ‘Front page’:

The home page template consists of the following sections:

1. Home Hero Image: Appearance > Customize  > Home Page
   1. Check to enable Home Image
   2.  The Hero Image can include text and a link
2. Home Below Hero Widget: Appearance > Customize > Widgets
   
   1. Add any widget here
3. Brands: Appearance > Customize > Home Page 
   
   1. Check to enable Brands
   2. Click Add new image and upload or assign an image
4. Home Content Page: Appearance > Customize > Home Page
   1. Check to enable Home Content Page
   2. Select any published page to display it’s content ( Don’t select the same page that is assigned the home template )
5. Featured Posts: Appearance > Customize > Home Page
   1. Check to enable Featured Posts
   2. Select the Post Category to display
   3. 3 or 4 posts can be displayed
6. Above Footer Widget: Appearance > Customize > Widgets
   1. Add any widget here
   2. Demo used a Mail Chimp email signup widget
7. Footer Widgets – Left, Center, & Right: Appearance > Customize > Widgets
   1. Drag any widget here
   2. Demo used a contact form from JetPack
8. Social Menu: Appearance > Customize > Menus
   1. Create a new menu and assign it to Social Footer menu location
   2. Create custom links with your URL and the navigation label as the social network, ex, twitter, facebook, etc.
